Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima culture, ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. An endearing and voluminous, burnished two-tone redware double duck effigy vessel, the form comprised of co-joined ducks, each with plump bodies, incised eyes, slender necks and slightly protruding tails, with a single spout between them. United they stand - or rather swim - side by side, with their prominent beaks leading the way and their diminuitive tails following behind. A wonderful example with areas of manganese deposits to boot! Size: 9.25" L x 8.75" W x 5.375" H (23.5 cm x 22.2 cm x 13.7 cm)
