ENGLISH PEAFOWL PEARLWARE CERAMIC PLATES, LOT OF FOUR, one scallop-edged plate having a thin brown or black pigment near rim and bird in center; one small, shell-edge dish with green pigment around the rim and a broad green peafowl in center; one with foliate and floral decoration on marley in blue, brown, and yellow pigments and bird in center; and one having two orange lines on rim and bird in center. The dish designs are in the pattern called "Aye"(two variations), "Tizzy", "Gigi" by G. and M. Deike. Impressed "L" on the base of one plate, otherwise unmarked. Staffordshire and other areas. Circa 1810. 4 5/8" D to 9 7/8" D.
Good condition overall. Expected glaze crazing and wear, hairline cracks on rims, flakes; scattered, minute flakes and some roughness to front side of rim on scallop-edge plate; orange-rimmed plate has section of rim that has been restored.
