Georges Braque (1882-1963)
The French painter, printmaker and sculptor Georges Braque painted in the style of fauvism during his early creative period. Later he was co-founder of cubism along with Pablo Picasso. Braque was fascinated by the shortened pictorial language with faceted shapes, multiple perspectives and the withdrawal of colors. (cko)
