Description
Italian School, 20th century. A group of two pietra dura stone inlay art plaques comprising one horizontally formatted scene depicting an Italian waterway, possibly the Rialto Bridge in Venice, and one depicting a smiling clown standing before a black ground with a green balloon in hand. Bridge apparently unsigned, clown signed lower right "R. Bresci". Bridge framed approximately 9.125" x 10.375". Clown framed approximately 7" x 5.875". Provenance: From the Estate of Channing S. Jun, M.D., Eastman, Georgia.
Condition
Rialto Bridge work: minor surface scratches allover commensurate with age. 1 serpentine crack to lower right corner of water, possibly original to the work as it doesn't appear to be a repair. Adhesive seepage to many seams.
Clown work: allover with surface scratches commensurate with age. Figure's nose is missing - not overly noticeable.
Each frame with minor gilt loss and corner separation.
