Description
Planchon À Paris (French, founded 19th century). A figural porcelain and gilt metal and gilt bronze mantel clock, circa 1960, after the original 19th century design by Balthazard À Paris (French). The clock topped by a porcelain man in Chinese dress smoking a pipe, the man surmounted to the gilt metal clock adorned with winding roses and rose wines, the clock with Arabic numerals and pierced foliate arms, the clock raised on the back of a porcelain Asian elephant with red and blue blanket, all raised on a reticulated gilt bronze base adorned with roses, buds and vines, clock face marked "Planchon À Paris", clock mechanism marked "1960 Planchon À Paris", with accompanying key. Overall approximately 23.25" x 13.5" x 10.75".
Condition
Overall condition is very good with very minor paint loss to porcelain. Nice crazing to figure. No chips, cracks or repairs noted. Minor oxidation to base. Gilt mounted roses slightly loose to one side. Twin movement, striking, 8 - day with key present however movement is not working appears to be in good condition just in need of general servicing.
