Description
A 17th century figural tapestry picturing figures in armour, one wounded in his arm by an arrow, and two elegantly clad ladies in a wooded landscape with further depictions of battle, all within a floral border. A well-made piece of good size easily incorporated to interiors. Measures 111 x 136 inches. Purchased in New York in the 1970s or 1980s, this tapestry was gifted to Joe by his good friend Muriel Kauffman, co-owner of the Kansas City Royals baseball team. Provenance: The Joseph Candioto Trust. We ship in-house for all items with the exception of very large and or very fragile pieces and some international shipments.
Condition
Very good sturdy condition noting the typical number of improvements and reinforcements. Reinforcement throughout, re-weave and repair on the sash of the right-hand figure, reweave and repair just below the figure on the right, an approximate 6 inch diameter repair below the elbow of the central female figure, considerable re-weave on the dress of the left-hand figure, reinforcement near the shoulder of the farthest left hand female figure, replaced portion 6-inches diameter within the foliage upper left corner.
