Copy after Nicola Amati (1596-1684) – Italian violin maker
Cover made of softwood
Base, aprons and neck made of walnut
Fingerboard, pegs and tailpiece made of ebony, with mother-of-pearl inlays
Two dated violin labels on the inside ‘Repariert von Alois Suter in Brunnen 1860’ as well as ‘Nicolaus Amatius Cremonien Hieronymi filii Antoni Nepos, Anno 1630’

Body: 36 cm; Total length: 59.5 cm
Violin case with leather covering, on the inside fabric upholstery, , additional string and bridge
Length: 79.5 cm


Condition:
The violin bears signs of age and wear. The tailpiece is loose, chinrest with repaired crack. Bridge as well as some nacre inlays in the area of the turning pegs are missing. Circumferentially heavy surface abrasion, the cover with several tension cracks. The violin case with usual signs of wear and tear. The total length measures 59.5 cm, the length of the violin case is 79.5 cm. (nlu)
