ZUCCO GEORGE: (1886-1960) English Character Actor, famous for his roles as a suave villain and as Professor Moriarty in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. An extremely rare vintage signed 14 x 11 photograph of Zucco standing in a three quarter length pose in costume as Professor Moriarty on the set of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1939). The actors Basil Rathbone, in costume as Sherlock Holmes, and Nigel Bruce, in costume as Dr. Watson, stand in three quarter length poses alongside Zucco and the three actors are also accompanied by an unidentified gentleman and lady. Signed by Zucco with his name alone in fountain pen ink to a clear area of the image. Autographs of Zucco are extremely rare in any form and the present example depicting the actor in perhaps his most famous role, alongside Holmes and Watson, is highly desirable.
