CONTINENTAL MAN'S EMBROIDERED PURSE / POCKETBOOK, silk and metal thread on silk ground with leather lining, richly decorated with flowering urn, scrolled devices, bird, shield, and three human heads exhibiting hand-painted facial features, inscribed with owner's name "Michael a Tallman" and dated "1744". Possibly made in Constantinople for the Western market. Circa 1744. 3" H, 5" W (closed).
Good overall condition with minor expected usage wear and scattered stitch loss.
