Description
Emile Galle Wheel-Carved, Enameled and Parcel-Gilt Glass "Squash" Vase, fourth quarter 19th century, the ribbed, tubular neck and bulbous base decorated with trailing enameled and parcel-gilt squash vines and flowers, signed at the lower neck in parcel-gilt relief: "Galle" in a vertically running hand, h. 17-1/2", dia. 6".
Condition
In overall good condition. The subtle enameling generally intact with very scattered minor rubbing, a TINY nick to one green stem midway down the neck. The parcel-gilt highlights rubbed throughout. Moderate wear underneath around the pontil along with an old, small chip-like anomaly within the ground area (1/16" x 1/4"). The interior with some plant stains at the bottom along with an original blowing bubble with imbedded glass fragments - all visible to some degree around the lower bulbous base. All of the above consistent with age and use.
