Lithograph published by Currier & Ives. Political cartoon titled, "A Candidate on the Stump: The Secesh Democratic Pirate Sunk by the U.S. Gun-Boat Union." Depicts Democratic Horatio Seymour (here depicted as long-winded and unconvincing) and running mate Frank P. Blair clinging to a sinking ship while Republican candidate Ulysses S. Grant fires on them and drowning companions, including editors, politicians, and lame-duck President Andrew Johnson.

Condition

Overall fair-good. Some matte burn, uneven toning from previous matte. Margins wide and largely free of defect. No punctures or tears. Tipped in two places along top edge. Some foxing/staining, pronounced at lower right, not affecting image. Dimensions: Sight: 10.75 " H x 15.50 " W; Frame: 13.50 " H x 17.75 " W. Provenance: O.
