( Please note this service members next of kin are deceased and the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor has been contacted to register this item for posterity prior to it's being offered respectfully here for auction) This lot contains the complete set of original 1945 documents, PURPLE HEART medal as well as the original shipping tube: 1. The first document 12 1/4 by 14 3/4 in , it is on high quality cream paper and embossed at top with an American Eagle US Seal in multi color."In Grateful Memory of First Lieutenant Harold L Stricker Jr. who died in service to his country in the Mediterranean area, Feburary 28th, 1945 . He stands in the unbroken line of patriots who have dared to die that freedom might live, and grow, and increase it's blessings. Freedom Lives and through it he lives- in a way that humbles the undertakings of most men. Signed Harry Truman ( In blue ink believed to be auto pen)  President of the United States of America "The back of this document has D-2060410 printed in a calligraphy font on the embossed portion corresponding with the American Eagle on the front. ( This is the servicemen's Armed Services Number) 2. The second document is 10 by 12 in, it is on the same high quality cream paper and embossed with a Purple ribbon and gold tone heart reproduction of the Purple Heart Award. There is a black ink open 5 point star on each of the four corners." The Third document is 8 by 10 inches on thick newsprint type paper with War Department letter head in a plain typeface.This letter is titled The Purple Heart Awarded Posthumously and describes the brief history of the award and the standards for recipients of an award on behalf of a deceased service member. 4. The PURPLE HEART MEDAL Pin back with Purple and White RibbonFront : Gold Heart with profile relief of George Washington on a purple enameled field with the Coat of Arms of George Washington between sprigs of Green Leaves.
