A Japanese Gilt-Brass Double Foliot Lantern Clock The movement housed in an etched brass case with hinge doors on both sides which open to reveal the movements, the exterior of the case is etched with lotus scrolls and the inside of the doors with Japanese silver grass, the clock face with a central dial black lacquered characters associated with the Chinese zodiac on the outer registers and the corresponding hours on the inner one, the central brass disc with the hour character and an overlaid floral-shaped silver metal pointer, the large domed bell above two rotating strike movements, the case containing a number of rotary gears propelled by two sets of lead weights which hang down into the center of the associated wood stand. 19th Century {Height: 13 inches (33 cm)} [Minor wear]
