Description
Chinese, Qing Dynasty, late 19th/ early 20th century. A peachbloom glazed shiliuzun (pomegranate shaped) bud vase of globular form sweeping up to a short constricted neck issuing five vertical sepals forming a calyx mouth, allover covered in mottled dark pink and moss-green glaze. Underside with apocryphal Kangxi underglaze blue six-character mark. Approximate height 3.25". Note: the pomegranate in Chinese culture symbolizes abundance and the wish for male descendants. Condition
Under black light examination, no apparent repairs. Porcelain surface with two small pits under the glaze. 1 sepal with firing flaw to interior, at least three sepals with rough glaze at edges. No cracks, chips, or losses.
