Walter Gropius (1883-1969) & Ben Thompson (1918-2002) for Thonet, Model W199 armchairs, set of 8, USA, 1950s, stained solid and laminated birch, 24.5"w x 21"d x 29.5"h

Condition

Light to moderate surface scratches, scuffs and abrasions throughout. Wear consistent with age and use over time. Sturdy and structurally sound. One chair with an old chip to the edge of the armrest. Two chairs with carved initials to the armrests (from use in an institutional setting or a school). Original finish to all. Some finish loss and flaking to the finish.
