Description
A REGENCY BRASS INLAID ROSEWOOD WORK BOX, EARLY 19TH CENTURY, of rectangular sarcophagus form with a scrolling brass inlaid flat paneled top within a similarly detailed angled border trimmed in reed and disc carving, opening to a yellow silk damask lined interior with removable tray centering multiple lidded compartments above an open storage space, enclosed by brass decorated sides ending in reed and disc trim, raised on compressed bun form feet. Height: 7 1/2" Width: 12 1/2" Depth: 9 1/2"
Condition
Good condition overall, some normal age cracks throughout, small areas of brass oxidation, minor small scratches. Interior silk has surface buildup, small holes from pins, as well as splits, spots and areas of dry rot. The interior lid has a gilt tooled leather bordered knitting needle envelope that has areas of loss and the yellow panel has two small tears. No key.
