[White House] Over 32 Items: White House place cards, envelopes, Pres. McKinley stereoview, 1816 Alexandria, VA, court document.
++ About 22 White House place cards and 2 accompanying envelopes for use at State Dinners and White House events. 3 have “The President” in the hand of a White House calligrapher. 1 has “The Vice President of the United States of America” in calligraphy and “Table 5” on reverse. Many have printed names (“Mrs. Nixon,” “Mrs. Carter,” “Mrs. Kennedy,” 3 of “The President and Mrs. Clinton”). Mostly 2 ¼ x 4 1/8 in. Near fine. ++ 5 sheets of White House letterhead (blank), 2 with matching envelope. Near fine. ++ White House note/paper pad. ++ White House birthday card (Barack and Michelle Obama signatures printed). ++ Commemorative medal. Obverse shows portrait of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, with the phrase “President of the United States.” At top of reverse: “For Country and Humanity.” Reverse also lists each inauguration date, “Died April 12- 1945,” and “In Memoriam.” John Ray Sinnock designed both sides but is not credited on the medal. Diam: 2 15/16 in. Minor tarnishing on reverse, very good. Orig blue case has some wear. ++ Stereoview: President McKinley, at the head of Council Table, Cabinet Room, White House, Washington, U. S. A., showing an early US military Presidential standard flag in background. Underwood & Underwood, (cprt Strohmeyer & Wyman, 1900). Usual color change, dampstain. Back of mount has a sticker remnant. ++ Document ordering W. W. Fitzhugh, (a Constables in the County of Alexandria) to seize the chattels of John Ball to obtain $20.58: $20 in damages Thomas Hildrup won from Ball in a lawsuit, plus 58 cents in court costs assessed by a Justice of the Peace, Richard Libby. Nov. 11, 1816. Signed by a court clerk. Preprinted form with blanks filled in by hand. 8vo.
