Description

Pair of English Victorian Ruby Glass Lusters, 19th c., with gilt and enamel floral decoration, hung with spear and button prisms, H.- 14 5/8 in., Dia.- 6 1/2 in.

Condition

As found. Scattered flea-size chips are observed throughout the crystals. One pea-size chip and an internal crack are noted near the top of two crystals. An approximate 1/8 inch chip is noted in the tips of five crystals. Only traces of gilt decoration are seen along the top edges and bases. Heavy wear is seen throughout the gilt along the centers. An apparent repair is noted to the socle of one example with an 1/8 inch chip and two fractured pieces nearby (approximately 1 inch and ¼ inch). Several flea-size chips are noted along the top edges. An elegant pair.
