Description
J.E. Caldwell & Co is a major fine jewelry institution based in Philadelphia, founded by James Emmot Caldwell in 1839. In addition to jewelry and watches, J.E. Caldwell is also known to produce silver, china, crystal, and even stationary. After working as a watchmaking apprentice in New York City, Caldwell moved to Philadelphia in 1836 to work in a wholesale jewelry house. He went on to open is own retail store in 1839.
