Description
An Edwardian silver syphon stand by Charles Edwards, London 1903, stamped for Edward & Sons, Glasgow as retailers, with a wavy rim, twin shell and scroll handles, the front embossed with a galleon, the rear engraved with S.T , a coronet above, the spreading foot on four bun feet, 17cm (6 3/4in) high, 523g (16.8 oz) Engraved with an earl's coronet for the Earl of Shrewsbury and Talbot. Please note: these lots have the following provenance: Provenance:Almost certainly given by the Major Charles Henry John Chetwynd-Talbot KCVO, 20th Earl of Shrewsbury to the Hon. Mrs E. W.H. Eliot, thence by direct decent to the current owner. The seat of the Earls of Shrewsbury was Alton Towers until it was sold in 1924.
