Description
Gorgeous necklace featuring finely crafted Kachina pin / pendant by award-winning Native American Din'eh (Navajo) Bennie Ration. Silver shadowbox, overlay, cast and stamped elements bring the Zuni Shalako dancer to three dimensional life. The 25 inch long necklace, which can be shortened upon request, is 6 mm turquoise with 2 mm sterling accent beads and s-clasp. The signed pendant is 3 1/4 inches long by 2 inches wide, and the mask with curved feathers is 3/8 inch deep. The turquoise cab is bright blue with natural veins that complement the design. Shalako is a series of dances and ceremonies conducted by the Zuni people at the winter solstice, typically following the harvest. The Shalako ceremony and feast has been closed to non-native peoples since 1990.
