A pair of 18th Century 1786 English Mezzotints. 1- The first titled "A Good Boy". A young boy shown half-length leaning against a table on the left and reading a book he holds in his left hand; after Borckhardt. 1786. After: Christian Borckhardt, Print made by: Charles Howard Hodges , Published by: John Raphael Smith in London. 2- The second is titled "A Contemplative Youth". A young boy, said to be a son of Mather Brown, sitting in a landscape with hands clasped on his lap, looking upwards to left; after Reynolds (Mannings 2046); cut impression printed in colors. 1786. Print made by: Charles Howard Hodges. After: Sir Joshua Reynolds. Both have marks from prior matting. Colors still good. In matching Gilt frames with mats. Each measures 18x23.50x1.25" Wt combined 12 pds PROVENANCE: A Charleston SC Private Estate.
