Description
A Vintage Maxwell Parrish Print "Air Castles". This is one of Parrish's early works known as Air Castles that was first debuted on the cover of "The Ladies Home Journal" in September 1904. The print is a older one, we have not removed it from the frame to examine it. The illustration features a partially nude male figure gazing up at a number of floating bubbles that fill the air around him. Off in the distance there is a large castle surrounded by clouds and a hazy mist. The male sits atop a rock with bushes and beautiful blue waters in the background. This illustration was one that earned Parrish a first prize in "The Ladies Home Journal" cover competition as well as $1000. In aluminum frame with mat under glass, 16.50x21x1". Weight is 5 pds 6 oz.
