19th century, Carrara marble bust of Diana, goddess of the hunt, carved by Cesar Ceribelli (Italian, 1841-1918), depicting the goddess gazing off to her right, with her upswept hair held in place by her symbol, the half moon, one shoulder left bare, the other covered with carved drapery and a bow strap, the back incised "dep. Houdon / C. Ceribelli," the whole mounted to a separate plinth. 26" H. Tips of crescent moon broken off a long time ago.
