1873 "The Golden Gate (From Telegraph Hill)" by E.P. Brandard Original Colored Engraving From Picturesque America Published by D. Appleton & Co. New York in Wooden Frame - This piece is an original, colored engraving from Picturesque America. Picturesque America was a two-volume set of books in 1872 and 1874, published by D. Appleton and Company New York. The books depicted and described scenes of America in the 1870's, and contained 900 wood engravings and 50 steel engravings. This engraving was illustrated by E. P. Brandard and engraved by James D. Smillie, and depicts an attractive scene of early San Francisco, California, as seen from Telegraph Hill. The engraving is in excellent condition, and has been professionally framed to protect the piece from wear. The piece (including the frame) measures 18" x 15".
