This crisply detailed and finely rendered landscape dates from around 1880 and is signed in pencil by the artist. I'm not sure what the name is -- maybe you'll have a better time deciphering it (Let me know if you do!). The publisher is the New York firm of Rover, Lee and Clem, which produced popular images by American and European artists. No matter who the artist is, the etching is superb, showing the delicacy of a winter sunset over a pond and the arbored ruggedness of the countryside. The paper shows some toning from age, but it has been recently professionally matted and installed under glass in a new, Victorian-looking wooden frame. The frame size is 22"x40"
