Description: Uncommon photographic process known as an "Orotone", housed in its original frame

Orotone also known as gold tone, is a photographic process that prints from a negative. It prints a positive on a glass plate coated with silver gelatin emulsion as well as banana oil mixed with gold pigment. This is what gives the image a gold tone. This process was popular in the early 20th century and was associated with the Arts and Crafts movement.
