Description
Spanish-made, salvaged from a shipwreck off the coast of Veracruz, Mexico, shipwreck occurred in the 17th century CE. Time spent underwater has transformed this simple pottery storage jar - coil made, with slight shaping of the edges but coils still visible - into a beautiful work of art. Encrusted with the remains of shells and barnacles, the shape of the vessel is clear but has been enhanced by these interesting additions. This was originally a jar for transporting olives. Size: 8" W x 12" H (20.3 cm x 30.5 cm)
