Description
Fiji, middle of the 20th century. Stunning wood and stone warrior's axe. Long wooden handle carved extensively with human figure at base, tribal patterns along entire length of shaft with working end carved with another human stooped over, with additional carved motif appearing to be human hands. The stone axe head appears to be older, perhaps dating into the 18th to 19th century. A large and attractive example! Size: 37" L (94 cm)
