Description
Group of over 80 items affixed to felt-wrapped plywood panel. Includes celluloid and lithographic portrait, jugate, slogan, and name buttons [sizes from 5/8" diameter to 1-3/4" diameter]. Includes small group comprising a FDR portrait decal and stud, pins, tabs, and a Taft & Sherman 4-1/4" diameter jugate chromolithograph tin tip tray titled "Grand Old Party." Features: 1.) 1924 7/8" coattail trigate with portraits of Calvin Coolidge, Alvan T. Fuller, and Frederick Gillett. 2.) 1908 1-1/8" Taft half-tone portrait pinback button with gilt metal bezel and surround [overall 1-3/8" diameter] Retains back paper imprinted "W.F. Miller 134 Park Row New York" and "Issued by authority of Paper Box Bag and Novelty Workers' International Union" with a Boston union bug at top. 3.) Taft stickpin with oval brass mechanically engraved portrait [oval 3/4" High] Overall with pin 2-3/8" long. 4.) Taft oval [1" H x 5/8" W] celluloid pinback button with halftone portrait. Retains Whitehead & Hoag back paper. 5.) Landon & Knox 1-1/8" celluloid button with sunflower illustration. Names appear on petals with the year "1936" at center. Contained within a brass bezel, overall size 1-3/8" diameter. Hopefuls, candidates, and tickets comprise: Taft & Sherman, Hiram Johnson, Charles E. Hughes, Warren G. Harding, John W. Davis, Robert L. LaFollette, Coolidge & Dawes, Alfred E. Smith, FDR, and Landon & Knox.
