JAPAN, MEIJI - TAISHO PERIOD
Two Japanese carved tobacco items. A Taisho period figural tobacco pouch of an Oni with unusual figural human form incense holder. The figure has inset glass eyes and is carved of boxwood and bamboo. The second item is a Meiji period leather tobacco pouch with silver menuki type embellishment. The cord is strung with a vibrant red coral bead. The pipe case is carved from wood in a basket weave style. The silver pipe exhibits fine craftsmanship. Pipe case about 8 1/4" long tobacco pouch about 4" long.

Condition
The first is missing a small black glass eye, otherwise very good condition. The second with wear to leather pouch surface, otherwise very good condition.
