Description
Scott Draves Studio floor vase, a monumental copy of a very rare Wheatley dragonfly form, one of only four made due to firing difficulties. Scott is one of the founding members of Ephraim Pottery and later the founder of Door Pottery. This vase was thought to have been made after his tenure at Ephraim and before his founding of Door. Standing 14 3/4 inches tall, the vase is neatly adorned with large dragonflies on opposite sides and is covered in a very Wheatley-like gloopy green mat glaze. Incised signature on the bottom reads Studio of Scott Draves, M.S. When asked about the M.S. after his name, Scott could not remember a reason for putting it there. Given the size and weight of the form, it is no wonder only four were successfully made.
