BRASS WILD & WESSEL SINGLE-ARM KEROSENE HARVARD STUDENT LAMP, electrified, embossed font with paneling under scroll and figural Mephistopheles ornamentation, air-draft cup shaft impressed "PATENT WILD & WESSEL BERLIN", supported by a central shaft and weighted circular foot, underside impressed "W & W / 1373", adjustable shade ring. Fitted with a period setup comprising a Wild & Wessel Kosmos burner, opaque white cone-form shade with flared top and polychrome Holly decoration, period colorless chimney. Second half 19th century. 21 1/2" HOA, 5 1/2" D base. Shade 5 1/4" H, 7" D fitter.
Brass in excellent condition, one side of font drilled for electrical cord. Burner lacking components and with alterations, shade and chimney undamaged and with normal roughness to rims, as made.
