Description
South America, Bolivia, ca. 20th century CE. Silver crown intended for a Santos or Madonna of a Spanish Colonial style, hand made by the Andean silversmiths in Bolivia from high content .925 silver. A resplendor like this example would have been attached to the back of the sacred wooden figure with the curved extension. The silver corona (crown) or resplendor has been embellished with shell designs using the repoussé technique and is topped by a globe with a cross. Weight: 87.9 grams of .925 silver. Size: 3.25" W x 3.75" H (8.3 cm x 9.5 cm)
