Description
19th Century Green Glazed Railing Tile. Attach note states "This Chinese railing tile is originally from the 1876 Philadelphia Worlds Fair (Chinese Exposition) building. After the fair was over the architect of the building removed the tiles and used them in the outside porch railing of his summer home that he built in Cape May, NJ. This home was called the Kings cottage, and is still there today. I bought this tile from and antique dealer in Cape May after the Kings cottage was sold and the owner sold two extra tiles. (one blue and one green). I bought this green tile and made the wood mount for it in 2000. The other tiles are still installed in the kings cottage outside railing". 19"h. overall. Condition: Very good with minor wear.
