Description
An Orson Welles-Received Letter from David O. Selznick, 1952. One page, typed on personalized stationery, dated "November 4, 1952," sent to Welles by the producer from Rome, reading in part "Dear Orson: / Jennifer and I were terribly pleased to hear from you...We are both tremendously eager to see you. The diffi- / culty is that de Sica [Italian film director Vittorio de Sica] works all night, every night - for / the entire film is being made in the station... / Do please call me at your convenience," signed in the lower right corner in blue fountain pen ink "David;" also included is another letter from Selznick to Dr. Maurice A. Bernstein [Welles' childhood guardian and lifelong friend], typed on personalized stationery, dated "February 6, 1950," reading in part "Thanks for your courtesy in sending clippings / received from Orson, and which I return here- / with;" included are the referenced clippings as well as the original transmittal envelope addressed to Dr. Bernstein; further included with a letter from Beatrice Welles indicating she consigned this lot directly to Heritage Auctions. (Please note there is a two-hole punch mark on the left margin of the letter to Welles.)
