Credo que rezan los Yankees para oprobio de los Mexicanos. San Luis Potosí: Imprenta del estado en palacio á cargo de Ventura Carrillo, 1847. Broadside in two columns: 34 x 22 cm. Lightly browned, slight marginal chipping, light water stain at right margin. Very rare. No copies on OCLC.
First edition. Not in usual Mexican-American War sources.
A squib prayer by the Yankees where they profess their god is gold; their trinity is gold, beautiful Mexican women, and Mexican territory; their purpose is to enslave Mexicans and make English the language of the country; they expect no obstacles because there are no real men in Mexico, etc. Ends with a prayer to the “poderosísimo y valiente Polk.”
