Description
An early 20th century 9ct gold ruby and diamond hinged bangle. Designed as a series of oval and circular-shape rubies, with rose-cut diamond intervals, to the foliate sides and plain half-bangle. Hallmarks for Chester, 1913. Inner diameter 5.8cms. Weight 11.4gms.
Overall condition fair. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Dents and scratches visible to the bangle in areas, dents specifically visible to the inside of the bangle. Cut and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents total carat weight estimation. Chips visible to the rose-cut diamonds. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. Rubies medium dark red, fairly well saturated, with fair to poor clarity and typical inclusions visible with the unaided eye. Stones in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges. Chip visible to one of the smaller rubies with magnification Some splitting visible by the clasp.
