Description
Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Sinu (Zenu) culture, ca. 200 BCE to 1600 CE. A wide-bodied flute with a human figure perched at one end, hands on its hips in a cheeky pose. Incised lines give texture to the figure's face, clothing, and body, including its wide necklace. The Sinu tribe lived in the inland delta along the modern day Colombian coast of the Caribbean. Their famous goldsmithing and gold ornaments drew the Spaniards to their region, but they also created a range of grey ware ceramics that depict human and animal figures. Size: 10" L x 1.65" W (25.4 cm x 4.2 cm)
