Description
A STAFFORDSHIRE BLUE AND WHITE TRANSFER PRINT POTTERY COVERED TUREEN AND STAND IN "THE VILLAGE CHURCH" PATTERN, ENGLAND, CIRCA 1830-1840, of squared oval form with conforming domed lid with handle and ladle notch, with matching stand, medium blue transfer print "The Village Church" bordered by "Wild Rose" decoration on the sides and bottom of the interior of the tureen, lid, and center of the stand, the handles with foliate scroll patterned decoration, all unmarked. Height: 9 1/4" Width: 13 1/4" Depth: 8 7/8"
Condition
handle to lid possibly reattached, interior of tureen with heavy crazing to glaze and staining, firing cracks to tureen handles, minor surface scratching commensurate with age and use.
