Description
Jacques Lipchitz (French/Lithuanian, 1891-1973) Also known as Chaim Jacob. We offer one of the last lithographs ever made by the artist. To back, a hand written letter was left from Lipchitz's widowed wife Yulla Lipchitz in pencil stating "This is the last litho-graph my husband, Jacques Lipchitz, made in France, July in 1972. He died before he could offer it. New York, 1983 Yulla Lipchit." In 1973 a Tribute to Jacques Lipchitz in America 1941-73, was held at the Marlborough Gallery, New York, in November; as stipulated in his will, none of the plaster or terra-cotta models was to be cast after his death; instead they were given to the Jacques and Yulla Lipchitz Foundation for distribution to venerable institutions throughout the world. This is a rare original lithograph from the artist. From a Ft. Lauderdale Beach Estate. Note: There is no certificate of authenticity or paper work with this piece. Sold as is. Museum framed. In overall great condition. Measures 22 1/4" Wide x 31" Tall + 7" matte and frame. We will not ship this piece but we will recommend local 3rd party shippers.
