Description: This is a striking 1944 United States Coast Guard Women’s Reserve, or SPARS, recruiting poster. The poster tells the reader to MAKE A DATE WITH UNCLE SAM, who looks very optimistic about his chances with the lovely female enlistee on his arm. The artist is Bradshaw Crandell, whose advertising art was widely published as early as the 1920s and very recognizable.
