Moderate edgewear, soiling, and toning to wraps, with chipping to head and tail of spine, red seal remnants, and light dampstains to spine. Wraps separating from text block. Small closed tears to bottom edges of beginning pages. 2" tear along gutter of first leaf. Mild occasional foxing to pages. Red marks to front pastedown, pencilled notes to page 9 and all pages age-toned, else clean and unmarked. A worn but solid copy of this how-to for betting at the horse races, comprising an account of how C. N. Brooks won $25 a day for years, along with musings on the sport, an examination of the different systems, particularly the Brooks System, and tables of track record speed, how U.S. horses compare with others, bookmakers' percentage table, weights adopted by jockey club, and records. No holdings in OCLC at this time. Good.
