Description
Rome, Imperial Period, late 1st to early 2nd century CE. Very fine example of a mold-made pottery oil lamp. A small loop handle extends from the bowl and a small pointed spout juts out opposite it. Around the discus is a repeating leaf design, while inside the discus is a very clear design of Neptune, Roman god of the sea, blowing on a horn made of a shell, with his tail curled around itself behind him. Size: 4.5" W x 2.25" H (11.4 cm x 5.7 cm)
