Description
We are exceptionally proud to showcase this incredible ca. 1933-1934 hand blown Steuben 10.5 inch, shape #8508 Cluthra vase, finished in the special Pomona Green, and adorned with the early 1930s Steuben Opalescent "M" handles. A blue vase match can be found on Page #228 of 'Frederick Carder and Steuben Glass' by Thomas P. Dimitroff, and is verified as shape #8508 in the Steuben Sketchbook, found on Page #302 of ' The glass of Frederick Carder / by Paul V. Gardner. Our example is in splendid condition, and is extra fine, as there is no color bleed out in the vase, plus the spot bubbles are both dynamic in appearance as well as prolific, and reasonably concentric in nature (not always found). This is as fine a nominal 10.5 " Steuben Cluthra as you will find. The Cluthra formula was first introduced in ca. 1924, and was produced until ca. 1934. The available colors were Pink, Deep Amethyst, Pomona Green, Gold Ruby, Blue, and a French Opalescent white. Cluthra is one of the most endearing patterns from Steuben, and this stunning example is a exceptional addition to any collection. 10 1/2 tall. Weight is 5 pds 12 oz. PROVENANCE: A Charleston SC Private Estate.
