Description
"Framed casein painting on panel of colorful carousel horses by nationally known artist Sam Lewis Rand (1910-1997). He taught art in Harlem, worked with the US Army with the looted art collections during World War II. He is known for being the first to exhibit Black Tribal Arts, and was the chairperson of the Southern Berkshire Arts Council. This painting is circa 1950's - 60's. The frame measures 33 1/3"" high by 26 5/8"" wide. The painting measures 24 3/4"" high by 18"" wide. The frame has a small chip in the upper right corner and the painting's panel is moderately warped. The total weight is a little over 10 pounds."
