Antoine Augustin Calmet, O.S.B. (26 February 1672 - 25 October 1757), was a French Benedictine monk, and one of the most distinguished members of the Congregation of St. Vanne. He was greatly admired by the philosopher Voltaire, who visited the abbey on several occasions. This commentary on the old and new testaments was one of his major works. This is the first Latin translation of Calmet's work, by Giovanni Domenico Mansi.

Set lacking volumes 5 and 6. Wear and soiling to bindings, rubbing to extremities, library labels at spine heels, some corner bumps, areas of vellum worn away at spines, wormhole damage to spines; folding map in vol. 1 with a closed tear one panel, some creases/folds to other plates, occasional dampstain damage, library stamps to preliminary pages, library card holders affixed to rear pastedowns, offsetting and foxing, affecting some plates; very good.
