Description
Victor Vasarely was a Hungarian–French artist, who is widely accepted as a grandfather and leader of the short-lived op art movement. His work entitled Zebra, created in the 1930s, is considered by some to be one of the earliest examples of op art. He died age 90 in Paris on 15 March 1997. Vasarely’s paintings and sculpture utilized geometrical shapes and colorful graphics to create illusions of spatial depth on two-dimensional surfaces. This bookplate is printed on light glossy paper stock and measures 11 x 12. Perfect for framing. Unknown print date. Near Mint. From 1971.
