Description

French Jeweled Gilt Bronze Champleve Enamel Mantel Clock. The drum form clock movement cantilevered from the cartouche top of the beveled glass cabinet, the cream enamel dial painted with an interior rose swag enclosing the Arabic numeral chapter ring, enclosed by a band of paste diamonds, the gilt pendulum inset in glazed case with the portrait miniature of a matron with large bonnet, signed "Degas", enclosed by a band of paste diamonds, the base and the top inset with a thin champleve enamel bands of leaves and flowerheads, raised on integrated plinth base with chamfered ends, movement marked with a "Marti et Cie Medaille d'Argent 1889" foundry mark "2202/4", pendulum miniature painting signed "Degas". Dimensions 10 x 6 x 5 1/2 inches (25.4 x 15.2 x 13.9 cm).
