Description
A nice Apulian Guttus with portrait of a woman, Magnia Graecia, 4th Century BC, of characteristic form with low pedestal foot, ribbed side and trumpet spout with single loop handle. The piece is well-preserved with nice glossy black surfaces, the central head of a woman seen ¾ facing, her hair styled in waves to a coiled bun at the nape of her neck. H: 3 ¾ in (9.5 cm); W: 4 7/8 in (12.4 cm). Nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Ex Los Angeles private collection.
